Neglect Made Luna A Skeleton. Love Made Her Whole Again.

All around the world, there are dogs roaming the streets. They have no family – no owners to feed them, provide them with shelter, or even just throw a ball for them. The story of the skeleton dog, Luna, comes from Mexico.

Tracey Buyce, a photographer for CANDi International, was in Bonfil, Mexico when she encountered Luna for the first time. Tracey was able to find the dog’s owner, and after some persuasion, convinced the owner to transfer ownership.

Buyce immediately had the dog’s health evaluated by a veterinary volunteer. It turned out that Luna really did need care. In addition to being deathly emaciated, the dog also had cancer. Thankfully, the prognosis for both ailments was positive and so Luna would receive treatment. The conclusion to this saga is an uplifting one: Luna was able to find a family in New York that wanted to take her in.

Thank you, Tracey. The world is a better place because of people like you.
