Add this encounter to the list of Great White Shark sightings in 2014.
There was a Great White Shark attack yesterday morning right off the coast of Manhattan Beach in Southern California. The creature was 7 feet long and had been hooked on a fishing line. The victim, Steven Robles, was out swimming with a swimming group, something that he does every weekend, when he bumped into the line and agitated the shark. The shark whipped around and clamped down on Robles’ rib cage, immediately sending him into shock. Thankfully, Robles was able to escape, coming back to shore on a surfboard, and is recovering now.
There seem to be a greater amount of Great White Shark sightings this year than in previous years, not only in California but on the East Coast as well. Some people think this increased frequency is due to the changing weather patterns. Although it is important to note that Great White Shark attacks are extremely rare, please exercise caution when having summer fun out in the water.
