Thank goodness this dog and his owner are okay! What a story!
When his owner had to go to the emergency room, Buddy the Beagle mix insisted on attending, too. However, the emergency technicians didn’t speak dog, so Buddy had to improvise. Since Buddy couldn’t get in the ambulance he decided to hitch a ride on the sidestep… for 25 miles.
“It was kind of funny. We were inside and he had jumped onto the control switch and turned on the sirens and the lights. We didn’t know what was going on.”
Tanner Brown was an emergency medical technician that responded to the call. Brown told a reporting newspaper that a driver had to flag down the ambulance to alert them to their hitchhiker. Thank goodness Buddy was able to remain safe for the long 25 mile trip.
After this ordeal, I am sure that the bond between Buddy and his owner will only be stronger. What an awesome dog, and an friendship!
