The good people of Animal Aid Unlimited are no strangers to identifying dogs in need of assistance, and responding to the scene to rescue them. However, not even they were prepared for what they discovered when this stray dog ran right up to them: his face was swollen to double its normal size. It turned out that the swelling was due to a life-threatening abscess that had began developing in his jowls. He was in dire need of medical care. Take a look at the photo below, where you can see just how swollen the stray’s cheek is – that’s an abscess, or an accumulation of fluid and infection.
That’s when something amazing happened, and this story illustrates the importance of organizations that are dedicated to helping animals in need. I wish we could give all stray dogs this type of care that they so desperately need. Without it, this dog would have inevitably died of infection.
